On Monday December 7, 2009 Jared and I were scheduled for an induction at 39 weeks and 2 days! The doctor felt it was best for us to get induced rather than continue to wait, especially because she didn't want me to go past 40 weeks in fear of complications with my unicornuate uterus. We were admitted at 11:30am on the 7th and played the waiting game for 23 hours!!!! I was 80% effaced and 4 cm. dilated upon arrival. It seemed however we just hung out and waited, I was given the pitocin around 4:00pm on the 7th which didn't really do much. Sometime around 9pm, the doctor's came in and broke my water, which didn't do much either. Shortly after having my water broken I decided to go ahead and have the epidural as the contractions were coming, but not too terribly hard and strong. I just wanted to ensure I had the epidural in before the pain got too bad and it was too late to have it. Throughout the night they had me pushing and pausing. It was quite the roller coaster event....but all very worth the end result!
Throughout the night they would up my pitocin to get the contractions started, but the baby's heart rate would drop so they had to reduce my pitocin to help steady the heart rate.
Finally after about 3 hours of steady labor, at 10:23am on December 8, 2009, Keegan Ajax Motherway was welcomed into the world with lots of tears, love and big smiles!!!
Keegan weighed 7 pounds, 9 ounces, and was 22 inches long!!!
Jared and I couldn't be happier and are soooo incredibly in love with this little guy!
