Stairs Accident

So daddy had to go away to climbing camp in Astoria on Sunday January 23rd and was scheduled to be gone for a total of ten days. I knew I could manage without him, but wasn't looking forward to being 29+ weeks pregnant and caring for a 13 month old. Not to mention with all the complications I have been having, I was worried I was going to be out of energy really fast. Fortunately my mom and sister came up to hang out with Keegan and I a few of those days to keep us company. We made it thru Sunday January 30th when my worst nightmare in our home came true. We have very steep stairs - 16 steps in total, of which Jared and I have both fallen down (me more often than not).

I made it through my first pregnancy with Keegan and never fell down them, and in fact never managed to fall down them once he was here while carrying him up and down the stairs. However, Sunday night after bath and getting Keegan's diaper and jammies on, he took off with a pair of shoes from the closet in hand and went for the stairs. I hadn't managed to get my preggo self off the floor yet when he was headed for the stairs. At first he ran into our bedroom with his shoes in hand, then immediately turned around as I was rounding the corner to try to put the gate up before he took a dive.

Needless to say I wasn't nearly fast enough! Keegan took a look up at me, then looked down the stairs as he attempted his first step down which resulted in a horrendous "noooooooooo scream" coming from me, and what appeared to be hands free cartwheels from head to toe while I was running as fast as I could down after him. I was hysterical, which probably made the fall much worse for Keegan. He was crying as I managed to grab him around the second stair from the bottom. I swooped him up into my arms to console him all the while hysterical and dialing my mom's phone number for help/advice and maybe even a little consoling for myself.
With daddy still being away, I didn't know what else to do. I ended up texting my neighbor Shelly asking her to come over and help me check Keegan out. I ran to our freezer to pull out a little "cookie monster" boo-boo buddy for Keegan to put on his head or any other injured part of his little body. The wonderful news is I think I was the one more damaged from the incident than Keegan. It was by far my worst mommy moment so far! Keegan was totally fine, in fact never even got any bumps/bruises/etc.
I checked on him every hour or two throughout the night in the case of a concussion, but all was well.

My mom was wonderful and drove out immediately and my two wonderful neighbors Shelly and Katie showed up to help me! Talk about scary!!!

Here is a video of the little man immediately after the incident:
