Work in Progress

Several months ago when we were enjoying a family dinner, my Aunt Linda offered to help with the baby room bedding once we found out the gender of our baby. Well, a few weeks ago we began our fabric shopping now that we know we are having a boy!

Aunt Linda, my sister Jessica and I set out for a fabric excursion, and let me tell you, searching for the perfect baby room fabric is quite a challenge. Especially for me since I don't have a great sense of vision without a picture right in front of me. After many many hours wandering in fabric store after fabric store, I found what I thought would be perfect for our little guy's room.

It wasn't until Monday afternoon this week that Aunt Linda and I began attacking our sewing project for Baby Motherway. We had one final piece missing and headed out to one last store. As we wandered into Craft Warehouse, I was hopeful that we would finally tie the room together, I wasn't sure what was missing exactly until then. We found the last and final piece of fabric to tie the whole room together, and it was PERFECT.

After wandering the fabric section I couldn't help but pass up some incredible minky fabrics to make my very first baby blanket for our little guy. I am a sucker for new projects and very cute cuddly blankets, what can I say. Plus I tend to get a bit sidetracked from the actual project at hand. So of course we left the store with some great fabrics in hand and I couldn't wait to begin.

Below is part of the blanket project (which still needs to be finalized) with some brown minky dot fabric which is currently missing on the back. Keep in mind - this blanket doesn't match the baby room - but was a must have project:

Below is the beginning of the baby room bedding. Aunt Linda and I still have to hem the baby crib skirt - but now I know that it fits the crib and how much needs to be hemmed. I am SOOOOO excited at how our first piece turned out.

Three shots of the crib skirt on the crib:

Close up of the crib skirt, and some other views, as you can see it still needs to be hemmed at the bottom - but it gives the idea of what we are doing!!!

Thank you Aunt Linda....this is such a FUN project to work on with you!

I can't wait to see the final photos of all the bedding you and your Aunt create! She is quite the seamstress from what I can see so far!! All the work is just beautiful. I can't wait to see how it all turns out!!!
