Childbirth A-Z

Jared and I were told that OHSU offers childbirth and education classes but weren't given tons of information early on in our pregnancy so didn't do much research. It wasn't until my neighbor Shelly (who is expecting their second baby just weeks after us) started asking me about the classes we were going to take that I realized I should probably start looking into it. Once I started researching the available courses and what we could get into I realized, the childbirth classes that Jared and I could take (or fit into our busy schedule), were completely full. Tonight we made the decision even though on the wait list and hadn't heard back from the hospital that we would just show up for the first class and hope the instructor let us in. To our luck, the instructor tonight was amazing and totally made room for us in the class. So every Thursday night this month we will be in class from 6:30-9:30pm.....very excited about this learning experience.

Overall we both learned a lot tonight, but I think Jared is in for a bit of a shock (especially after the video we had to watch tonight). Definitely a great learning experience, and a bit of entertainment value as well!!!

Details for the course we are taking:
Childbirth A-Z:
This course is designed for first time parents. This series explores everything you need to know about having a baby at OHSU. Classes will prepare you and your birth partner for the physical and emotional aspects of late pregnancy, labor and birth, comfort measures, pain management and cesarean birth as well as the first hour of your baby’s life and you as a new mother.
