31.5 Week Appointment

After spending Wednesday October 7th and Monday October 12th in the Labor & Delivery for some minor issues, and major worrying I was really looking forward to my appointment today "October 13th" to hopefully get some questions answered.

My appointment today was very reassuring. We had a pretty long ultrasound which showed the baby is happy and healthy, still has plenty of amniotic fluid, heart is great, growth is great, etc. He appears to be weighing in around 3.5 pounds and his growth is all on target.

Once we met with our doctor, she wasn't able to fully answer why I was having contractions last week or why I was dilated. The best she could guess is that I have been doing too much and need to slow myself down a bit. As for why I was having the cramping yesterday, I am told the baby's shoulder/elbow is right where my cramping was coming from and that it was putting too much pressure on my uterus which was causing the pain. Due to the nature of my uterus, the baby doesn't really have any room to flip around and move a ton. For the same reason I will probably start feeling more pain/stretching since there isn't a ton of room there, unlike women who have no complications with their uterus.

Either way, so far I am not being put on bedrest, just need to stay off my feet as much as possible. If I absolutely have to be on my feet, it is supposed to be only 30 minutes at a time.
I am now scheduled weekly for appointments to continue to closely monitor me. There is a test they can do to see if you might go into labor within the next few weeks, they did that last week and will do the test again next week. However, hopefully things continue to progress as normal.

Overall, very good news today. So let's just hope that Baby Mo continues to stay put for several more weeks!!!

Well I'm glad that you have such great prenatal care and get to go in so often. That must bring you a lot of peace of mind. Bummer it's starting to hurt so much. It's all worth it in the end though! : )
